Overview

* At this time I only offer development for wireless Palm Pilot devices. (see below)

Wireless web applications are similar to web applications in that they also utilize an on-line database (or internal LAN based database); however, access to the database is through a wireless digital device. Many existing web applications can be upgraded to allow wireless access.
see also web applications

Some examples of wireless web applications might include:

Wireless contact management application - allowing sales representatives to manage customer communications from anywhere in the world via a wireless device.

Wireless "help desk" support systems - allowing customers to place service or support requests on-line; while support personnel may move from location to location without ever being disconnected.

Wireless Web Sites - Nearly any web site many also be presented in a wireless format. For static web sites, the pages of the site could be converted into a wireless application and run as a separate web site. For interactive sites, the change would only require modification of the pages generated by the automated scripts.

Wireless web applications are a perfect compliment to web based applications; allowing greater mobility.

What types of wireless devices can be used?

While Internet enabled cell phones will allow access to wireless applications, at this time I only offer development for wireless Palm Pilot devices (Palm VI and OmniSky).

Do you develop for cell phones (with Wireless Markup Language)?
The standards relating to the language used in development of wireless applications for cell phones (Wireless Markup Language) are unpredictable at best, therefore any applications designed with WML may require update or conversion at a later date to meet new standards. In addition, the user interface of a cell phone is not conducive to navigating around a web site at this time. In the future, these issues will be addressed by the wireless community and I will begin to offer development for these devices.
